Healing the Nobleman's Son

CHAPTER 22

A nobleman asks Yeshua to heal his dying son, which he does after hearing the humble words of wisdom spoken by the nobleman.

  1 A few days later, a nobleman and his retinue who had first sought Yeshua in Nazareth came to Capernaum, seeking Yeshua.

 2 When he found him, he besought him, saying, “I have come from Cana to ask you to return with me to heal my son who is very sick, even to the point of death. I was there on the day you married your fair wife, and I drank the fine wine served by your uncle.

 3 After you left, his servants told us it had been only water moments before. I know that you can perform miracles such as no other man. Will you please have mercy and come back with me to make my son well?”

 4 Yeshua sighed and said to him, “Who will believe without signs and wonders? If I do as you ask, what will you think of me? And if I do not what you ask, what then will you think of me?”

 5 The nobleman paused to consider his words well before speaking, and then replied, “I know in my heart that God is with you. Not just from what I witnessed at your marriage, but from all that has been spoken of you in Galilee for some time; not just the wonders you have done, but also the words you have spoken.

 6 But words are often fleeting in the minds of men, while wonders are never forgotten. Therefore, if you will come to my home and heal my son, many shall see what I already know: that God dwells with you.

 7 But if you will not come to heal my son, though I will have a great sadness, I will know of a surety that it is not by a whim, but by the will of Elohim, that all is as it should be. And even in my sadness, I will be at peace.”

 8 Yeshua was touched by the words of the nobleman, and he said unto him, “Among the rich, you are rare, for you have a humble heart and a true love for God. Return to your home; your son has been made whole.”

 9 Then the nobleman knelt down and kissed the feet of Yeshua, washing them with his tears and thanking him with his words.

 10 Believing in the words of Yeshua, he had joy in his heart upon every step of his return journey home.

 11 As he approached his house, his servants came down the road to meet him, shouting with joy, “Your son lives! Your son lives!”

 12 The nobleman was overwhelmed with gratitude and humbled by the blessing God had given him. He asked his servants as to the hour when his son began to get well, and they told him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour, his fever left him.”

 13 The father and the servants that had gone with him to Capernaum knew that it was the same hour in which Yeshua said unto him, “Your son lives.”

 14 From that day forth, the nobleman’s faith in Yeshua waxed great, and from this event, his entire household, all of his family and all of his servants, also believed.
